NEW PARTNERSHIP LIFTS SHEBOYGAN COUNTY COVID-19 RELIEF FUND TO NEW HEIGHTS

Sheboygan, WI – Sheboygan Service Club (SSC) partners with United Way of Sheboygan County (UWSC) to increase the community impact of the Sheboygan County COVID-19 Relief Fund.

Both organizations have a long history of supporting and lifting the social sector through their annual events and fundraising efforts. By joining forces, SSC and UWSC strive to amplify community support during these unprecedented times.

“This partnership comes at a time when the services of our social sector are needed the most,” said Kate S. Baer, Executive Director of UWSC. “Now more than ever, we must work together to support community members of all ages effected by this pandemic.”

Co-leading the Sheboygan County COVID-19 Relief Fund, UWSC and SSC will share the responsibilities of raising funds and quickly responding to grant requests from nonprofit agencies.

The focus of the relief fund remains on the immediate needs of individuals and families suffering due to income loss, food instability, lack of safe shelter, and increased stress and abuse. To date, the Fund Distribution Team has received over $135,000 in grant requests and continues to receive new requests weekly.

“We must not lose sight while we continue to shelter at home, that not everyone is ‘safer at home,’” said Teresa McAlpine, President of SSC. “Ultimately, this partnership is about mobilizing funds to our neighbors that need it most.”

For the first time in SSC’s history, they have mobilized funds from their endowment to support the relief effort.

Their endowment fund was established in 1980 to secure financial stability for SSC programs that make it possible to serve community needs.

100% of the funds raised for the Sheboygan County COVID-19 Relief Fund provide flexible resources to local nonprofit agencies in the county that are working with community members who are disproportionately impacted by the economic consequences of COVID-19.

“If it is on your heart to give, here is a way to support our neighbors in need,” said McAlpine.
